Behavioural Assessment and Intevention
Service (BASIS)
A service
for older clients with complex, severe and persistent behavioural
disturbance associated with dementia and or mental illness and
provided in partnership with Aged Care Services. Function include:
assessment; consultation/liason with Aged
Care Services; information and education and support to Aged Care
facilities
Referrals are through the Nursing Home

Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Service
(DBMAS)
The DBMAS
can help manage the care of people living in aged care facilities
or in the community with severe persistent Behavioural and
Psychological Symptoms of Dementia. The service may suggest
possible strategies to reduce the impact of behaviours and make
referrals to local clinical teams or other dementia
services.
This
service is available 24 Hours a day for asssitance
on 1800 699

Wound
care consultations in RACFS

Wound Care Consultations for clients with
wounds which are not responsive to standard treatments can now be
accessed via the Aged Care Hotline at the St George Hospital. The
service is a once only consult provided by the community nursing
service to review and provide information re ongoing wound
managment.

| Gastroenteritis Packs |

|
Facilities have been issued with a "Gastro
pack" which includes s/c fluids, butterfyly needles, infusion set,
dressing and a protocol for use of the pack. Education
surrounding the use of these packs has been provided to aged care
facility staff.
Additional packs may be obtained from the
access and referral centre at the St George Hospital on 9113
3999 or the after hours bed
manager.
