The St George Division of General Practice
is a fund holder for the Department of Health & Ageing in
relation toRACF/GPinterface. One of the requirements for
Accreditation of Nursing Homes is to have an active Medication /
Medical Advisory Committee. With the
large number of RACFs in the Area it became
apparent thatconsolidation of the many individual facility
committees, into a regional committee, would be the
most efficient and beneficial to all
concerned.
The committee has formulated Terms of
Reference and meets bi-monthly. Agendas and minutes of each meeting
are circulated to all key stakeholders. Membershipis comprised of a
number ofvisiting GPs, a
geriatrician, supply pharmacists, accredited pharmacist, Directors
of Nursing, hostel managers and
nursing representatives from St George Hospital.
